Lower-level students will create longer text picture books in Chinese that tell short stories or descriptive passages, combining illustrations with connected sentences. These books will help students expand beyond isolated vocabulary and begin using basic sentence structures and storytelling language in context.

Each student will choose a personal or class-connected theme, such as A Day in My Life, My Pet’s Adventure, My Dream School, or My Favorite Foods. The stories may be fictional or personal, and students will be encouraged to write in full sentences and short paragraphs (within their level), using vocabulary and grammar they have learned.

The course will guide students through the writing process: brainstorming, outlining, writing, revising, and illustrating. Each page of their book will include both an illustration and a few connected sentences, allowing students to practice fluency, grammar, and creative expression while reinforcing vocabulary and character writing.

In the final weeks, students will format their books digitally, add a cover page and author name, and present their finished work during a celebratory virtual book showcase.
