Upper-level students will produce longer, paragraph-based stories or articles in Chinese. The goal is to collaboratively publish a thematic class book, where each student contributes one complete article as a section.

The class will first discuss and select a shared theme, such as travel, science, history, or school life. Once a theme is chosen, each student will focus on a specific topic within it, for example, in a travel-themed book, one student might write a guide to Japan, another about Paris, and another about New York City.

Each article will be structured in paragraphs, appropriate to students’ language levels, and will go through a multi-week drafting, revising, and polishing process. Students will learn to plan their writing, build vocabulary, improve grammar, and enhance coherence and fluency in Chinese.

In the final weeks, students will compile their sections into a professionally formatted digital class publication, and present their work during a virtual book launch event.
