Talk Like TED
Middle/Upper (7/27-8/16) Mon-Thur 3PM / 6PM PST

“Talk Like TED – Chinese Public Speaking & Presentation for Kids” is designed for middle/upper elementary students to develop strong Chinese communication skills through storytelling, structured thinking, and engaging presentations.
In this course, students will learn how to organize their ideas, express themselves clearly in Chinese, and present with confidence—just like a TED speaker. Through interactive activities and guided practice, they will build essential skills in public speaking, visual presentation, and audience engagement.
Students will also receive presentation training and may use tools such as Google Slides, PowerPoint, or Canva to create their presentations.

Four days a week (Mon - Thursday)
- 50 min/class 
- Every month trains a new skillset
- Training in 100% Mandarin - Traditional and Simplified

4 Months of Training

All Different Skillsets- take a month at a time or take them all.

May — Finding Your Voice

Students begin by sharing their own stories, strengths, dreams, and goals in Chinese. This month builds confidence, self-expression, and comfort speaking in front of others.

June — Storytelling & Engagement

Students learn how to capture attention through strong openings, clear story structure, expressive voice, pacing, and emotion. They end the month with a story-based TED-style presentation.

July — Thinking & Persuasion

Students explore real-world problems, develop creative solutions, and learn how to persuade an audience with clear ideas and strong reasoning. They finish by presenting their own young entrepreneur-style idea or product.

August — Leadership & Impact

Students practice using positive, inspiring language to motivate others and present ideas that can make a difference. The program concludes with a final TED Kids-style showcase and celebration.

What to Expect in Class

This program helps students build confidence and express themselves clearly in Chinese through storytelling, presentations, and public speaking practice.

Students will learn how to organize their ideas, share meaningful stories, and engage an audience like a TED-style speaker. Through guided activities and real speaking opportunities, they will develop confidence, stage presence, and strong communication skills.

Shared Reading

Discussion & Vocabulary Exploration:

As stories unfold, students pause to unpack new terms, images, and ideas. They discuss meanings, connect concepts to their own experiences, and learn how native speakers express themselves.

Creative Language Use:

Students compose sentences, craft short responses, and participate in comprehension conversations that build confidence and fluency.

Daily Writing Practice:

We read and teach fully in Traditional Chinese, with full support for Simplified Chinese, especially when children write. All teachers are trained in both systems.

In our Foundations weekend classes, students learn both Simplified and Traditional in a structured approach.
